Black + Nude

August 5th, 2017

I have nothing but love for the sheath dress. When it comes to flattering, this fabulous body-con style is indeed, everything. That’s why I populate my closet with a chic array of these practical yet chic dresses in a variety of colors. My favorite for summer? Black, of course! (I can’t help it; it’s the Wednesday Addams in me.)

First, allow me to take a moment to sing the praises of the sheath dress. Are you a curvy gal? This style will accentuate your waist and all your curves. How about an athletic build? This style — especially if you add a belt — will create a waist. How about tall and thin? This style creates a V-shape for you, allowing your shoulders and waist to take center stage. How about a petite? Opt for shorter sheaths and add a great pair of heels; the shape in a shorter length will call attention to your legs and elongate your torso. Sold yet? If not, consider this: a subtle sheath style like this, even with a popover top, will never go out of style. Hence, sheath dresses are perfect investment pieces. I love this black sheath dress from my monthly Wantable Style Box, with its stunning simplicity.

One of my favorite things about wearing white is you can accessorize it with any color you would like. I am a huge fab of neutrals, and pairing black with nude is one of my favorite color combos. The addition of a simple gold pendant (this one has a symbol promoting balance, which we all need a bit of), a single bracelet and comfy yet chic Sam Edelman nude suede pumps perfect the look. But perhaps as much as I love the dress, necklace and shoes, I am absolutely enamored with this T-Shirt & Jeans ring satchel from Nordstrom Rack! At less that $25, this sleek handbag in a nude tone makes it a perfect mix-and-match bag for so many pieces in my wardrobe. Plus, that ring handle? Swoon!

This summer, don’t shy away from wearing black, especially on a stunning LBD. Which black dress will be your perfect match? View several fab options at!
