Bon-Ton Introduces mEYEwear Prescription Glasses

October 4th, 2017

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t wear glasses. I have been unabashedly rocking the four-eyed look since adolescence. Don’t get me wrong — I often wear my contacts for photo shoots, special events and hosting gigs, but anytime I am celebrating the art of relaxation, glasses it is.

As I’ve gotten older (and I’m getting ready to hit that 40th birthday landmark in a few short months), I’ve realized that glasses can be just as chic as any posh accessory. And in turn, I’ve been steadily adding them into my everyday and special event itinerary over the past few years (like you may add your favorite earrings or a sparkling bauble).

This shift in seeing eyeglasses as a cool accessory is one of the reasons I am so thrilled that Bon-Ton Department Stores (which includes Boston Store, Carson’s, Younkers, Herberger’s, Bergner’s, Elder-Beerman and Bon-Ton), has launched a new prescription eyewear service called mEYEwear.

Launched in early fall, this perfect marriage of trend and functionality is just what this fashionista needed. I was lucky enough to visit a store recently and choose a pair of my very own. The process was easy — and, honestly, quite fun!

The selection of color, shape and style is a four-eyed fashionista’s dream!

First, I met my eyewear consultant, Michael, an adorable British man who explained the entire process to me and made me feel comfortable and well taken care of through the entire process. We started out by chatting about my eyewear needs and the vibe of my wardrobe. Next, he and I selected several frames to try. And let me tell you, that is an experience in and of itself! There are so many fun colors (vibrant red, cool blue, fun purple and even duo tones, with animal prints and more), and a ton of frame shapes, from cat-eyes to square, round and rectangular. The selection is on trend, with a frame for every man or woman’s personal style.

And did I mention there are prescription sunglasses, too? Oh yes — a fabulous and wide array of classic and fashion-forward styles for men and women. And if you know me, you know I’ve never met a pair of sunglasses I didn’t want to rock! (And later break, and replace, lol!)

After Michael and I narrowed the selection down to a few frames, we took some selfies with the in-store iPad. There’s something about a photo that tells me whether I love something or not way better than any mirror can do. I even whipped out my phone and took a few more, just for fun — and to share on Instagram, of course!

Finally, we decided on a frame. Want to see the winning selection? Check out my Instagram page for photos of my perfect pair. (Or two, I should say, because there’s always a buy one pair, get one half-off promotion that I just couldn’t resist!) Plus, frames starting at $95, you can find a pair for each member of your family.

For the best eyewear experience I have had the pleasure of enjoying in quite some time, stop by your local store and try mEYEwear for yourself.

After all, it’s a new season, which means a new look, a new frame, a new you!

I’ve found my perfect pair! Now it’s time to get down to business. Dress by Philosophy.

Here’s how I styled my favorite new frames:

For a casual coffee break at my favorite cafe, I chose a Nicole Miller dress in a gorgeous fall print; a printed and studded BlankNYC jacket and these red-hot frames that pop the print from my dress. I love to mix colors, patterns and textures for fall — and layer it up to beat the chill!

For a casual day at home, I opted for a Chaser statement tee , cozy embroidered burnt orange Free People jacket and my comfiest lived-in BlankNYC jeans. My funky blue glasses perfectly match my denim!

For a cool new look for the workweek, I chose a sleek faux leather Calvin Klein dress  with bold gold details and paired it with these beyond-chic marbled duo-tone ivory and black frames. Now I’m ready to hustle!
