The Cult-Fav Pencil that Made Me Ditch My Lipstick
April 8th, 2018
I’ve struggled with finding the perfect lipstick for years. As a loyal pop-of-color lip gal, I am obsessed with finding a lipstick that’s easy to apply on the go, comes in a variety of bold colors, doesn’t dry out my finicky lips and stays all day — no matter how much green tea I sip.
It sounds like an impossible dream — and for a while, it was. Then a MUA friend turned me on to the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($27). With one swipe, I was hooked. Not only did my lips feel moisturized and look fab in the vivid red Dragon Girl hue (which I am wearing above), the color lasted through late afternoon and only needed a quick touch up before meeting friends for post-work cocktails.
And the best part? Even though it’s a long-wearing matte lip color, my lips stayed smooth all day without feathering or dryness — thanks to its Vitamin E-enriched formula. Needless to say, I now own the does-it-all lip pencil in nearly a dozen colors, and even create new hues by layering them on my lips.
Want to change up the matte finish? I simply add a touch of shimmering clear gloss, like Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Emma, to add shine and plump my pout.
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil comes in nearly 30 shades from subtle neutrals to seriously bright and saturated hues. Let’s take a look at some of my favs!
Dolce Vita is my everyday go-to, thanks to its subtle dusty rose hue ($27).
For a femme fatale night-out look, try the rich burgundy Endangered Red($27).
Welcome spring with a sweet, petal-toned lip tone, like flirty Roman Holiday ($27).
Channel Marilyn Monroe in a classic red-hot lip with Dragon Girl ($27).
Celebrate Pantone’s Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, with a dash of Pussy Control — a shiny lilac ($27).
Which lip pencil will be your new fav? Maybe all of them!
PS: This post is NOT sponsored — I just love these pencils this much and want to share it with all of my friends … xo
