What I’m Wearing from Fall to Winter
October 30th, 2018
Oh, October, you have my heart. The heart of fall is my favorite time of year for so many reasons. The list can go on for days — scary movies, falling leaves, anything apple — but at the very top is the fashion. (Something tells me no one is shocked to hear that!)
No other season can compete in terms of colors, layering, textures and cozy chic options. While I tend to stick to my (often black) basics, this season I am adding a few updates and new additions to my fall-to-winter transition wardrobe. Here’s a look at a few pieces that will be in heavy rotation.
Black Jeans: I’ve gone a little crazy with black jeans this season. There are so many fabulous styles right now, so each one has their own unique flair. Ironically, my two current favorite now are both the same brand — Citizens of Humanity. I recently bought a ’90s-cool button-fly high-waist style, and of course, these must-have Rockets with a split hem and rocker-chic grommet details. So much yes in one pant!
Cropped Sweaters: I often get asked what key pieces make up the capsule collection I create in my wardrobe each season. For fall and winter, sweaters of all shapes and colors would be on top of the list. I love cropped sweaters this season because they are the perfect accompaniment to high-waist jeans — which are my absolute go-to. This one from Joie is a splurge and worthy every cent.
Statement Ankle Boots: I can’t think of a better match for my jeans-and-sweater combos than ankle boots that make a statement. I would love to say I have a cute collection of flat boots in my closet but that would be a lie; this girl always needs a heel to feel like herself. I currently have two black patent leather options, a cowboy-inspired black pair, cherry red suede, bright white (because, white. Always white) and my current fav — snakeskin. However, I am hoping to add this Vince pair from Twigs before Thanksgiving!
Unexpected Accessories: Admittedly, I have a great collection of accessories (if I do say so myself) but they tend to be more on the basic side. This fall, I’ve been making a concerted effort to add some unexpected handbags, belts and jewelry to my classic collection. I adore this fun animal print clutch, as well as these not-so-traditional hoop earrings. These anything but simple (but not too over the top) accessories elevate this look — and my fall-to-winter wardrobe — to style star status.
