Tweed Dreams

July 30th, 2018

I’ve long been a fan of anything “borrowed from the boys.” And tweed is no exception. While Coco Chanel officially shifted tweed’s perception from manly to decidedly feminine with her classic tweed separates I will always think of this nubby texture as an ode to one of my favorite fall trends, menswear chic.

I adore this particular Veronica Beard tweed jacket for a few reasons. First, it is perfectly updated with modern detailing in the form of mirrored buttons, contrast piping and fringe trim. Plus, the texture of the jacket itself is soft with just the right amount of stretch. But it’s the fit that truly hooked me. When you slip on a well-made designer blazer it’s hard to ever go back to the fast-fashion or “mall” version. Talk about spoiled!

At first glance, this tweed jacket may look a little daunting to style but it makes any outfit classy and effortless. Not only does it look good with a basic t-shirt and jeans but elevates even your most basic frock. I paired it with a blush cami and white denim — simple, easy and season-transitional chic.

Although this fabulous jacket is a bit pricy it’s worth every cent as an investment piece. And with so many clever ways to wear it, you’re not going to regret this purchase, like, ever.

So, how do you wear it for fall? Pair it with something unexpected like a leather skirt, shiny metallics, winter white, a feminine floral dress — or layer it up under a voluminous coat. Make your way from summer to fall by layering it over a slip dress or classic white denim.

Tweed dreams, friends!
